Angry Birds Party

The Angry Birds Party was a big hit!

I had a pretty ecstatic 5 year old on my hands.

Before we get to the party pics, 

I wanted to share one last craft, the goodie bags!

And as the kids tell me, it's the most important part,

besides cake,

and presents. :)

I started off by buying some red and blue bags at Target.

I then pulled some graphics off the internet and enlarged them to fit.

Get the face downloads HERE and HERE

Cut out your faces and bring out the bags.

Glue the faces as shown.

I used Elmer's Glue.

Take a sharpie and add the little feather bumps over their heads.

Pull String Pig Pinata

Say that 5 times fast!

Most of the Angry Birds Party Supplies are sold out in my area

and I knew I wanted a pull string pinata for Michael's Party.

So why not make one?

and for a fraction of the cost!

This one cost about $3 to make.

Gather your supplies:

Balloon in the size you want - I chose a large punch balloon.

Bowl to hold the balloon

Newpaper and/ Flyers

Paste

Curling Ribbon

Construction Paper

Crepe Paper

Scissors

Glue - Hot and Elmer's

Pinata Filling

Luckily I already had some punch balloons from Target on hand.

They were leftovers from Easter.

I got Jaime to blow up the balloon, since I didn't want aggravate my jaw.

Then I laughed when he almost passed out once he finished.

Don't worry, he was fine.

I also grabbed all the grocery store flyers I had been hording

and cut them into large strips.

I found that larger strips made the process move more quickly.

Playdate and Pinterest Edible Paint Craft

Say that title five times fast.  I took a vacation day today from work to get in a nice looong weekend.  Sorry, you won't find me out at the crack of midnight looking for deals.  I mean, I want to, but I am way to lazy to drag my tired butt out of bed.  It is way to warm and comfy.  I'll wait til Cyber Monday.  :)

So what else could I do that did not require going to a store?  I invited my friend and her little man over for a playdate.  The boys are the same age and are partners in crime.  In the span of 5 minutes you will hear hugs, laughter, fighting, crying and making up.  Repeat. 

The boys have no problems entertaining themselves, but I figured having a craft handy would mix things up for them.   I had all of the ingredients for this craft.  Then, I remembered this one I had pinned on Pinterest as well.   I set up the ingredients and let the fun begin.

Here is my muffin tin filled with a tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk and a tablespoon of water each.   You can see I started with the green food coloring on the right.   That was 2 drops of gel food coloring.

Here are all the colors ready.   My friend and I had a laugh remembering how to mix primary colors.  It sore of went "Yellow and blue make orange."  "No that's yellow and red."  "But we don't have red, we have pink"   "I guess we are making peach."  LOL

Here are the boys scoping out the goods, marshmallows and popcorn.  I figured they could have a snack and do a craft at the same time.  Giant marshmallows are my son's new fav. "Sooo much better than mini marshmallows, Momma."

The finished product, or what was left over.   The boys dipped the popcorn in the colors then popped them in their mouths.  I never got a picture.  They then took the Easter egg approach and then dunked the marshmallows as well.  The marshmallows dried nice and shiny.  I can't wait to decorate some myself.  

The verdict?  This craft was really fun and really like the fact it was edible. It is a bit sticky, but a snap to clean up.   It allowed my friend and I 30 minutes of uninterrupted chatting time while we watched "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving" (LOVED IT!) that Jaime DVR'd.

   Resist, you cannot.... ok, bad Yoda joke but true for all you Star Wars fans.

I came up with this fun little craft while preparing for Michael's Lego Star Wars 4th Birthday party.    I wanted a craft that would entertain a bunch of sugared up 4 year olds, both boys and girls.   And if I know my four year old, if you can glue it and use markers, the craft will be a giant hit. 

I have to say, this did not disappoint!  The kids loved it and I have to admit, most of the dad's did, too.

I got the idea from this pic. I figured I could make an easy "glue it yourself" craft.   I used the same template for each of the characters and just tweaked it for Yoda, Chewbaca (my fav) and R2D2.

All the pieces cut out of construction paper and ready for the kids:  I cut out enough pieces for 10 of each character.  My hands were like claws after that.

I set up a table with elmers glue, googly eyes, markers, crayons and colored construction paper pages.  Yes, I am a brave woman, especially with my white carpet.   We thankfully had no accidents.

And here are the kid's Jedi Master-pieces.  Yes, that will be my last Star Wars pun.
